The topic “women and patriarchal election” may not seem good and pleasant to you, this topic declares that election is not for women and they are extra creatures, and their participation is also eventual to concurrence of men’s.
But it’s clear that women in Afghan society don’t have role that a women have in a democratic society. in fact women in afghan society have legal rights of political participation, elect and be elected, but unfortunately in case of exercising their right to vote, they can’t decide independently.
It means that barriers for women freely participation and independent election is strongly systematic. This structure and social system is patriarchal and women can’t take part.
In patriarchal communities where social system, values, culture and traditions are defined from the perspective of men and are strongly in favor of men, women are marginalized live silently.
Woman silence in a patriarchal system is an exact known phenomenon. Social, cultural and historical Functions of these structures are based on ostracism and exclusion of women and womanish activities.
Based on the concepts mentioned, women in afghan society are those marginalized creatures where there is no space for them in a patriarchal system. Therefore in election, political participation, and social activities also they act according to patriarchal rules. But democracy its self is a complete system and can prevent from every kind of unlawful actions and governance.
Still democracy in Afghanistan is not functional but it’s already guaranteed by law and afghan constitution and both men and women can elect and be elected freely.
Some reports declare that at some parts of Afghanistan women don’t have the right to take picture, so how they can take voting cards to vote their favorite candidate, there is also written that instead of women their husbands taken cards. It shows that also they will vote instead of them too. Even women do not have information about candidates and their programs and more than 90% women in Afghanistan are illiterate and they don’t have access to any informational source, so in such circumstances women can’t have freely participation.
