Deputy acting Governor of southern Helmand province, Mohammad Jan Rassoulyar confirmed seven killed and 23 wounded in a suicide car bombing in Lashkargah City of the province Tuesday evening.
The attack took place in police district three of the city around 6 p.m. when police forces stopped a suspicious car.
“The target was police officers, but several civilians were injured,” Rassoulyar said.
Initial reports indicate that the seven killed include four security personnel.
The Afghan Ministry of Interior has also confirmed the attack in a press release stating that at least 18 people were killed and wounded.
